Company Overview
Megara Resins Anastasios Fanis S.A. is a manufacturer of Rosin based
and other synthetic Resins for the Paint, Adhesive and Paper Industry. The
Company was established in 1961 by Anastasios Fanis and has initially
functioned as a unit that produced gum rosin and turpentine from Greek
crude gum.
During the 70’s, the company began producing paper size intended to
be used in paper mill industry. A decade later, Megara began the
production of specialities from gum rosin such as esters, maleic resins,
rosin modified phenolics and aminoresins for the wood industry.
The production of alkyd and acrylic resins as well as new improved gum
rosin products and specialties for the concrete and pulp industry
flourished during the 90’s.
Nowadays the company is fully equipped with a complete production unit
for gum rosin and turpentine, seven reactors for rosin specialties, three
reactors for alkyds and acrylics and finally, two reactors for UF resins.
It is also equipped with a SANDVIK peletiser of the latest technology,
capable of producing two metric tones per hour, brand new modern thermal
generators, a chiller and two chilling towers with heat exchangers. All
the reactors are are equipped with complete systems of condensers, filters
etc. that are no harm to the environment. Additionally, the unit has been
recently supplied with a chemo-biological purification system of the
liquid wastes, deriving from the crude gum processing as well as of the
rosin specialties production department.
The staff of the company are only 32 persons. However, the total annual
production including the gum rosin-turpentine unit, is 16.000 metric
tones. The commercial activity of the company is 75% exporting, i.e. the
75% of the products is being exported mainly to European countries.
The company has also been certified with ISO 9002 since 1994.
