Project GLOW

Project GLOW
Start date: 01/11/2013
End date: 01/11/2017

The overall goal of this project is to develop novel, advanced polymer-based raw and composite materials as well as processing and production technologies, towards new families of powder coatings, i.e. one-shot matt powder coatings, responding at the same time to the industrial requirements for quality improvement at lower cost, production of environmentally friendly materials and shorter development cycles. The project will pursue the generation of multifunctional formulations, based on new bifunctional polymeric binders and new nanoadditives aiming to expand significantly, both in terms of type and final application, the current range of powder coating systems to economically attractive niche markets.

More projects

ELOXYCHEM will establish a commercially relevant electrochemical oxidation process that will become a strategic development to replace existing chemical conversion processes that are heavily reliant on imported materials such as nitric acid and imported fossil-fuels such as natural gas.
SUSPENS will develop a holistic approach, from bio-sourced and recycled materials to faster and lesser energy demanding processes, to produce sustainable composite structural parts, ensuring their manufacturability from the design conceptualization.
VALUABLE will focus on the demonstration of a platform non-plant-based biomass valorisation process for the production of yeast oils as a viable substitute for fossil-based and plant-based products (such as palm oil) in applications such as cosmetics, adhesives and resins.
